Tommy Stewart - Jazz Trumpet Player | Jazz Arranger | ComposerWe thank you for visiting the only official website of Tommy Stewart. Trumpet player, pianist, arranger, producer, and composer, Tommy Stewart is best described as the quintessential jazz musician. Tommy has had a very impressive musical career, which has spanned over 40 years.
As an educator, Stewart served as assistant band director at Morehouse College and music instructor at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Ga. As a professional musician, Stewart has arranged for and/or performed with various artists, including Sonny Stitt, Joe Newman, John Coltrane, Alice Coltrane, Bobby Blue Band, Gladys Knight, Barry White, Wynton Marsalis, Issac Hayes, Lou Rawls, Erskine Hawkins, and many others.
Although Tommy has accomplished a great deal in music, he is internationally known for the rare groove "BUMP & HUSTLE MUSIC". The tune became so popular in Europe that one of the original albums sold for more than $1,000 online!
Rare Grooves! In 1973 he arranged and composed a musical score called "The Burning of Atlanta" for Buddha Records, another Stewart collectible LP. This roughly marked the beginning of a busy period during which he would work as an arranger, producer, performer or writer for the likes of Clarence Carter, Candy Staton, Johnny Taylor, Major Lance, Eddie Kendricks, Luther Ingram, Millie Jackson, Flip Wilson, Roy Gaines, Tamiko Jones and many others. On some of the projects Tommy even played piano and trumpet just to add a personal touch to it!
Because of the demand for his un-released rare grooves, jazz music, jazz arrangements, lectures, and clinics, Tommy decided to have this website created to make it easier for his fans and clients to have access to his works.
